Touching Spirit Bear, by Ben Mikaelsen is about, Cole, a juvenile delinquet. Cole has smashed a boy's head into the sidewalk, and is given his last chance; he has to live on a secluded island, with some supplies all by himself, for a whole year. If that fails, he's going to prison. Cole choses the island and is sent on a boat to the island. Before the guard leaves he warns Cole about a "spirit bear," a pure white bear which lives in Alaska, although no where near the island. It's about Cole, living on the island and the life threatening dangers he has to go through.Cynthia C.
