Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

A charging moose, giant tornados, and a plane crash. All things that Brian will try to survive while he is stranded in the Canadian wilderness with a hatchet from his mom.
Brian is a 13-year-old boy and was on his way to visit his dad in the Canadian oil fields when the single engine plane crashed as the pilot had a heart attack. Now Brian will have to learn to catch food and find water. He will have to learn to share berries with bears and use fool birds and fish for food.

This book is a realistic fiction about survival, and I recommend this book for boys more than girls, but it’s a very good book.

Do you like survival stories? What about realistic fiction stories? Well if you do this is a book for you. It’s called Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. It is awesome. It’s filled with action packed fun. And every chapter ends with a cliffhanger. Hatchet is about this boy named Brian Robeson who is stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere due to a plane crash. He has to survive until help shows up and he has to live through tornadoes, wolves, and ravenous mosquitoes, also attacking moose. These are only a few of the hardships he has to live through. You’ll just have to read the book and find out what happens to Brian. Does he live… Or does he die?
