Assassin is about a girl name Bella who is sent to live with her dad's grandma in Washington DC because ever since her mother's death, her father had gone into a drunken stage and didn't want Bella around it. Bella has always had a dream of becoming an actress but since her grandma disapproves, she lands her a job as a seamstress at the White House for president Lincoln's wife. While working there she becomes friends with their sons, Tad and Willie and their friend, Steven. But during all this the Civil War begins. She is torn between the North and the South side because her friend she meet who is the famous actor, John Wilkes Booth is siding with the South, but the rest of Washington and her family is siding with the North. Throughout this book, John is sweet-talking her to believing that helping him keep slavery, it will also help her father. So, Bella has to make some decisions weather she wants to help him but it is all a matter of who she is going to hurt. From reading this book you learn all about President Lincoln's death, while hearing a fictional character's thoughts on if she is going to betray her president and the rest of her country to win America's best actor's heart.
