Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements
Things Not Seen is a book about what happens when fifteen-year-old Bobby Phillips wakes up one morning and can’t see himself in the mirror. He’s not blind just plain invisible. Follow Bobby on a strange adventure as he and his family try to restore him to his original being before time runs out when you read Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements.
If you enjoy a great fiction novel, then read this book with absolutely no regrets!

Magic or Madness by Justine Larbalestier
Ever since Reason Cansino was old enough to remember, she has been on the run from her wicked grandmother, Esmerelda. Reason is extremely upset when she is sent to live the one place she fears most-Esmerelda’s home in Sydney. Nothing is what Reason expects from her witch of a grandmother. No black cauldrons or skeletons of small children hidden away in closets, everything seems normal. But that all changes when Reason walks through the back door in Sydney and is sent to a strange and different world. New York City. Reason has to come in terms with the fact she’s denied all these years. Magic is real and Reason is magic!
Magic or Madness by Justine Larbalestier. Mostly teenage girls would enjoy this book with there being a teenage girl narrator.

The Book of Dead Days by Marcus Sedgwick
The Book of Dead Days is a fatasy novel that, at times, can feel like a Tim Burton movie with its dark atmosphere and unfriendly characters. It is also a book that has a style that is not amazing, but satisfying enough to keep you reading.
The protagonist in this story is an orphan with the name of Boy. That is the name his master, Valerian, gave him when he took Boy in to help with the magic show he puts on for a theater. Boy always listens to his master, even when he doesn't know the reason for his orders. Boy even tries not to think about the connection his master may have with the recent murders in the city they live in and why Valerian has been acting strange in the past few weeks.

Eagle Strike by Anthony Horowitz
Eagle Strike is a secret plan that a famous actor is planning. It is a plan to let the American military misslesfire to all parts of the world and destroy it. Alex Rider, the main character, goes to find clues about this plan without MIG to back him up. Alex gets caught up in the plan and a lot of danger.
Eagle Strike is the 3rd book in the Alex Rider series. This is definitely a book for someone who loves action. Also, there is ongoing action, so you will never want to stop reading. I do not think that girls will like this book, so I recommend it for boys.

The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
The book The City of Ember is about an underground city that had important instructions on what to do when the city is in need of supplies so that people would not die. The instructions were passed on from mayor to mayor but one mayor lost the instructions! Two kids take it into their own hands and try to find a way out of the city. This book is for people who like science fiction and adventure. It has two other books after it, The People of Sparks and Prophet of Yonwood.
Both boys and girls would like it; it is a book that is hard to put down!

Code Orange by Caroline B. Cooney
In this novel, the main character, Mitty Blake, lives in busy New York City. Instead of being busy working like most people of the city, he is pretty relaxed and carefree. But when he opens a dusty medical book for some last minute research and discovers an envelope with small pox scabs inside, he is afraid that he had been infected. Small pox, or variola major, is a deadly disease that claimed millions of lives around the globe until scientists created a vaccine. The disease has been extinct for over a century, so people aren't getting the vaccine. Now, Mitty may have brought it back. Worst of all, he may have infected all of New York City, bringing death from this biological monster.
I really liked Code Orange. It is fast paced and interesting. Anyone at Harrington would like it.

Sample Entry- Assassin by Anna Myers
Assassin is a historical fiction novel about John Wilkes Booth and the assassination of President Lincoln. The author created a fictional character, Bella, and alternates chapters between her and John Wilkes Booth. The author did a lot of research on Booth and the assassination so the book is accurate, but still fun to read.
If you have to or like to read historical fiction, this is a good choice for boys and girls.
